Former Ellensburg mayor arrested for allegedly stalking a business owner
ELLENSBURG, Wash.- Ellensburg's former mayor Larry Nickel was arrested for allegedly stalking a business owner. Nickel is also a candidate in the Ellensburg city council race.
In a report released by Ellensburg Police officers, Nickel was allegedly following the owner of the Oak Rail, a nearby business. The report says Nickel had a camera with him and was asking the owner about what really goes on in his bar. The business owner called the police and told officers he felt threatened. Nickel was arrested for allegedly stalking the owner. KNDO asked people in the community how they feel.
"He has some good ideas but his approach is misguided, he's kind of a bully if you don't agree with him," said Scott Robinson, who lives in the area.
"I think he'd be good at city council unfortunately his misdemeanor I think kind of squashed that," said Bill Maguire, who lives in Ellensburg.
Nickel was not available to comment. People shared their mixed feelings but whether or not this affects their vote will be clear in the election results.
