Animals rescued from Kennewick home waiting for adoption
PASCO, Wash.-- A few days after they were rescued from a kennewick woman's home, six cats are recovering at the tri city animal shelter and awaiting adoption.
Rescuing the cats from south jefferson place in kennewick required gas masks and hazmat suits to prevent ammonia poisoning tri city animal shelter told kndu if it were not for a few windows being open in the home, some of the cats would have died.
Today though, the cats are safe and enjoying some fresh air at the shelter in pasco.
They treated six cats for ear mites and ammonia burns as well as worms.
The cats were found thursday living in garbage and their own waste. Tonight the shelter is thankful some didn't die.
The cats will be available for adoption next week. The shelter says the cats are still skiddish and will require the right home for adoption.
Investigators are still gathering information to decide whether to file charges.
