Local parents finding deals for back to school supplies

Posted: Updated:
RICHLAND, Wash.-- Back to school shopping is in full swing, and the economy might lead some to believe moms and dads are cutting back.

Analysts are predicting the worst back to school season for retailers in over a decade.

But that includes shoe and clothing sales, not just pens and paper.

At some local supplies stores, parents tell us they're still getting new supplies while trying to find deals.

"They got a big coupon book here and i went though and the stuff that he's buying i went through and double checked everything [for coupons]," one parent said at a richland office supply store.

Parents we talked to today say on average they are spending around one hundred dollars on new school supplies.
