KENNEWICK, Wash-- It's almost become an essential part of our daily drives and long trips-- our GPS devices. But a string of thefts is prompting Kennewick Police to offer tips to protect your navigation unit.
Police say they have become targets for theft recently because criminals can quickly get money in return for them. But just leaving your GPS in the glove box might not hide that you own a GPS. Police say the smudged ring it leaves behind could get it stolen.
Last week alone, Kennewick Police had four reported cases of GPS theft. To help keep your GPS safe, take it with you once you leave your car if you can. And those rings do come off with glass cleaner, so keep some glass wipes handy.
