Mobile clinic for Yakima students available Wednesday
The Yakima School District wants to make sure students are healthy for the new year so its working with the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic to help families get up-to-date on immunizations one week before school starts.
Medical staff at the district say its common for younger children to be missing important vaccinations this close to the new school year.
Sheala Johnson is a nurse for Yakima Public Schools, she wants to remind families to check in with their healthcare provider and take advantage of a special service happening Wednesday.
"Go to the mobile clinic," she says. "Call the mobile clinic's number and schedule an appointment because they would be happy to look at what is missing and just take a glance at it and make sure that that your child is up-to-date."
The Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic will have a mobile clinic Wednesday, Aug. 26 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. outside the district's Central Services on 104 N. 4th Ave. The cost is $5 per child and appointments are recommended, you can schedule one by calling (509) 877-3243.
The first day of school for Yakima is Tuesday, Sept. 1.
