NEAR RICHLAND -- A public utility district in Western Washington is thinking about nuclear power. Energy Northwest is looking for partners to build a new nuclear power plant near Richland.
The Columbia Generating Station already there is the state's only operating commercial nuclear power plant. 9 utilities have already expressed interest, one of those being Grays Harbor PUD.
Yesterday, Grays Harbor PUD was presented with a plan for the plant that could be producing electricity in about nine years. PUD Commissioners say they're interested in clean energy and are willing to learn more about working with Energy Northwest.
