Car crashes into home, residents barely avoid injury
YAKIMA, Wash. - The Choi family spent most of Thursday cleaning up the mess left by a driver who crashed into their home early in the morning.
Joo An Choi was sleeping when he heard a crash into the duplex his family lives in off of 45th Ave. and Tieton Dr. He thought it was a dream but then his father told him to get out of bed and see what had happened. He says it was just by chance his parents were not in the room hit by the car.
"It was just a five-minute difference," he said. "If [the driver] had hit five minutes earlier my mom and dad could have been dead right now."
Choi says his parents both decided to sleep outside their bedroom for different reasons.
Yakima police were unable to give KNDO any information on the crash but the residents say the driver was arrested. They also say you could smell alcohol on him.
