FORT LEWIS, Wash. (AP) - Four soldiers from Fort Lewis, including a Federal Way man, were killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan.

They were serving with the 5th Stryker brigade, which assumed responsibilities earlier this month in Taliban strongholds in Kandahar and Zabul provinces.

Killed Tuesday were Pfc. Dennis M. Williams of Federal Way who enlisted in Seattle in October 2007. This was his first deployment. Also killed were: 30-year-old Capt. John L. Hallett III of California; 30-year-old Capt. Cory J. Jenkins of Arizona; and 38-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Ronald W. Sawyer, 38, of Trenton, Mo.

The deaths push the number of Washington service members killed since 2001 to 323.
