Police searching for suspect in Kennewick shooting
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened last night when somebody fired multiple shots and hit a man outside his home while his two children were inside.
Police responded around midnight to the 800 block of south Fir St. near 9th place. Police say a white male in his teens or early twenties fired shots near a crowd of people.
One of the bullets went through two fences and struck 20-year-old David Castillo-Lopez in the leg. Police say Castillo-Lopez has no gang ties and are scratching their heads as to why the shooter opened fire.
"We know that he wasn't the intended target so he's truly an innocent victim that got shot," said Ofc. Tony Valdez. "But we don't know what was the intended target; we don't know if it was a car or a house or even if it was a drive by. We don't know if it actually came from a car."
Castillo-Lopez was taken to Kennewick General for the gunshot wounds to his leg. He is reported to be in good condition tonight.
Police are having a tough time narrowing down suspects because of conflicting eyewitness accounts.
