RICHLAND, Wash. - Out of all the places in the world to set up shop a chinese company picked the Tri-Cities. GCL Solar is one of the leading green energy suppliers in China and will be branching off in Richland.
The company will focus on research and development for solar energy. Their goal is to create an efficient polysilicone process that will reduce the cost of production for solar panels. Bryson Bailey, Recruitment Director of TRIDEC, says its a great opportunity for local businesses. "I believe there has been some real estate quotes involved and also a couple of engineering firms. So the fact they have even announced this has created some synergies and opportunities for local businesses," said Bailey.
GCL Solar expects to be up in running in six months and will be leasing an office off of Columbia Point Boulevard.
