Disabled American Veterans' volunteer shortage creates many medical challenges
YAKIMA, Wash.- The Disabled American Veterans center is having some car problems.
DAV volunteers drive the center's van from Yakima to Seattle every week, driving veterans to and from their medical appointments there. Now, they are short on drivers and the DAV van won't be travelling to Seattle for at least a few weeks.
"A lot of them get their medications over there, so they need, they need to get over," said Jack Rought, the Yakima DAV Commander.
The DAV van helps over 30 local vets get around Washington. If you have extra time, veterans are looking for volunteer drivers right now. You can contact the Yakima DAV office on North 15th Avenue.
