YAKIMA, Wash. - Not everyone had the holiday off on Monday but for staff working at Yakima Regional Hospital, they're day got a little better thanks to the Olive Garden.
The restaurant's 685 locations across the country delivered free food to places in their respective communities and Regional was chosen by the Yakima location.
"It's important for us to take care of those who are in need of being taken care of for one thing, especially a hospital," said John Mead, the general manager for the restaurant's Yakima location.
Each year the restaurant looks for places in the community who are taking care of others to bring lunch. Mead says Regional fit that bill perfectly.
"They're busy taking care of all of us who are sick and injured and that sort of thing and it's our way of making sure they're appreciated."
This is the eighth year in a row the chain has handed out free meals on Labor Day.
