Kennewick, WA- A lot of families in the Mid Columbia are getting help--getting back to school.
The nine Wal-Marts in the region have donated about 12-thousand dollars in school supplies to local school districts.
Today workers at the Wal-Mart in Kennewick delivered about three- thousand dollars in back backs, notebooks, pencils, and other supplies to the school district's office.
Kennewick Schools Superintendent Dave Bond says the donations will go to good use. "Families have to come up with a lot of supplies to be successful in school these days," Bond says. "A donation like this really helps out a lot because we have a lot of families struggling financially. The economy is tough right now and for a company like Wal-Mart to step up really helps out."
The school supplies will be distributed to individual schools and then eventually make it to the kids.
