Man drives off a cliff at I-82 rest stop near Selah

NEAR SELAH, Wash. - A man drove his car off a cliff Monday night off of Interstate 82 and was killed on the scene, according to Washington State Patrol.

Jason Doyle, 34, was thrown from his car when it went over an embankment just before 8:00 p.m. at a rest area three miles north of Selah.

Witnesses told WSP they saw the 1995 Ford Explorer accelerate through the parking lot, over the curb and through a fence.  It plunged about 100 feet into Selah Creek Canyon, it was totaled.   

Doyle was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
