KENNEWICK, Wash.--  An eyewitness in the shooting of a Richland man, shot by Kennewick Police shares what he says he saw.

He would only speak if his identity could be hidden, but he told us today he was at the scene on Monday when officer Lee Cooper shot and killed 39-year-old Christopher Villareal.  After Villareal's car came to a stop in downtown Kennewick. The witness describes what he says he saw next.

"There was nothing said by either the officer, the patrol officer, or the detective," the eyewitness said. "Nothing when the officer jumped off his motorcycle took his gun out and started shooting."

The eyewitness also claims Cooper fired the shots in the direction of bystanders. The Benton County Sheriff's Office is investigating to determine if the shooting was justified according to state law.
