Budget cuts at the Benton Franklin Health District
KENNEWICK, Wash.-- The cuts are being made because of lack of state funding for the District.
This afternoon the board for the Benton Franklin Health District formally announced they are cutting at least two environmental health educators as well as limiting available hours for the child care program.
We spoke with one nurse who says she could have stayed with the district, but the lack of care they will now be able to provide to children made her retire instead. Now she says screenings for children will be eliminated.
Also, child care centers will no longer have the District's help in coming up with health plans and will have to do it alone.
Also today it was announced shots the District provides for the regular seasonal flu may run out sooner than expected.
