Young woman robs Nob Hill Food Mart with a rifle and is still wanted
YAKIMA, Wash.- Yakima Police are looking for a young woman accused of holding up a mini mart with a rifle Thursday morning.
This happened at the busy corner of Nob Hill Avenue and 18th Street. Officers say the woman walked into the Nob Hill Food Mart right before 6:30 a.m. A picture from the surveillance video shows the young woman pointing a rifle at the cashier and demanding money.
The suspect fled on foot and during day light at one of the busiest intersections in town. Officers say all together it's a pretty unusual robbery.
"Especially for the cashier, for someone to walk in with a weapon of that type, it's alarming to say the least," said Captain Greg Copeland with the Yakima Police Department.
The cashier did comply. The suspect fled on foot with an unknown amount of money.
Police are still looking for the suspect and are describing her as a young, Hispanic female in her mid twenties with a thin build. She was last seen in a dark 1990's Honda CRX.
