YAKIMA--You may have seen a lot of emergency vehicles heading to the Yakima Air Terminal Saturday morning, but don't worry, it was only a drill.
"Operation Swift Journey" simulated a plane crash, complete with actors playing passengers, family members and the media.
Real emergency workers had to handle the scene.
Overall, organizers say it went well. But, there are some kinks to work out.
"We had some communication issues that we're going to look into," Jim Hall, Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management, said. "Those are very prevalent in exercises and in real events. We'll see what we can do to fix some of those [problems]."
The Federal Aviation Administration requires airports to hold this simulation once every three years.
Hall expects the response to be fully evaluated in a few weeks.
