YAKIMA, Wash. - The Washington State Transportation Commission met with local leaders and the public on Tuesday to learn the priorities and concerns from people in our region.
Carol Moser is the chair of the commission and said the different panels and presentations they sat in on reflected a statewide concern for funding. Those who spoke to commissioners from the region emphasized the need for rural safety projects.
The commissioners toured part of Yakima on Monday and learned more about emerging projects during their daylong meeting Tuesday. Moser said they were impressed with what they say and it revealed strong city planning in the area.
"I am really anxious to see Yakima develop and grow and be successful in all of these projects," said Moser.
The commission has been making trips, like this one to Yakima, all year across Washington. It is part of an effort to learn more about what issues are most important throughout the state.
