Governor Christine Gregoire spoke at the Time of Remembrance
It was the third annual Time of Remembrance and it's the only event in all of Washington to recognize all branches of service.
The governor honored the fallen soldiers and so did guest speaker General James Mattis. His words left a stream of tears on many faces.
He said America will survive and we will calibrate the lives of the fallen. We will calibrate what they did for others and celebrate what they did for our nation and they will never be forgotten.. We will reflect on them always.
Governor Gregoire says we should all be proud and thankful for our fallen angels.
"My husband Mike and I came today to remind them that we all know they sacrificed.," Gregoire said. "We know their loved ones sacrificed and paid the ultimate sacrifice, but we know the loved ones have paid a human toll, a sacrifice beyond most people's comprehension."
At the end of the event the estimated 500 people who attended sang God Bless America. Many of them raising American flags and saluting those they have lost in the war.
