Kaite Butler becomes the new Benton County District Court Judge
Recently the Washington state senate approved a bill that adds two new Benton County District Court Judges
Katie Butler who was a former court commissioner has filled one of those positions.
Today in court she announced to a room how proud she is to follow Judge Eugene Pratt as the Benton County District Court Judge. She thanked her husband and children along with the 75-people who showed up to court today to see her take the oath.
"It's a really new phase for me, it's exciting," Butler said. "It's not new for me to be on the bench but it's new for me to be going full time in this positions. Honestly I never dreamed this would happen."
Judge Butler will start work immediately handling Washington State Patrol cases along with felony cases that are initially filed into district court.
She says her 27-years of experience working in the Tri-Cities will help her with hew new job.
