KENNEWICK, Wash.-- One of the biggest business and manufacturing networking events in the Tri-Cities starts Thursday. More than 120 manufacturing companies will be at the 2009 Gesa Smartmap Expo.
It's the 7th annual Smartmap Expo, and leaders say it's bigger than ever with companies from around the Northwest and speakers from all over the U.S.
Business representatives say it's a great way to network. Jeanne Dillner, CEO of SIGN, says, "It's an excellent place to network and to find potential new employees, engineers, and machinists."
Terry Smith, Chief Engineer of Infinia Corporation, says the point of the Expo is "to further economic development here in the Tri-Cities." Smith also says, "It's an opportunity to make contacts with other suppliers/ manufacturers that we could potentially use in our product."
Janet Bauermeister, with the U.S. Department of Commerce, says, "It's really helpful for me because I get to learn about new companies in the area. I get to touch base with companies that I don't see every day."
The Gesa Smartmap Expo is at TRAC in Pasco from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009.
