Police investigating alleged sexual assault on horse
RICHLAND, Wash-- Police are investigating the alleged sexual assault of a horse at the Richland Riders' Club on Van Giesen Street.
The president of the club says the horse was pregnant and lost her foal because of the stress involved with the attack. Police haven't made any arrests, but they say assaults like this on animals are not very common.
"In my 32 years here with Richland, we've had one other case about 15 years ago, where 3-4 horses were sexually assaulted at the same location," says Corporal Scott Morrell with the Richland Police Department.
Corporal Morrell says they made an arrest in that case and could question that same suspect again.
The president of the Riders' Club says they're doing everything they can to help with the investigation and are taking security measures to prevent this from happening again.
Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately.
