Sunnyside girl is hospitalized after being hit by a truck
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- A 12-year-old Sunnyside girl is in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, after being hit by a truck while crossing the road with two other kids, Monday morning.
Police said the driver William Swails of Grandview, told them sun-light blocked his view, and he was not able to see the kids crossing.
The accident happened just after 7a.m. in the 900 block of Yakima Valley Highway.
Police identified the girl as Diana Maldonado. She remains in the Intensive Care Unit, and is listed in serious condition.
Two boys, a 10 year old and 7 year old, were not hit but did receive minor injuries. They were treated and released.
Sunnyside police tell KNDO, the driver will not face any charges in this accident.
