Tri-Cities places running out of seasonal flu shots

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Many places to get seasonal flu shots in the Tri-Cities are running out.

We called both Wal-Greens and Albertson's in Kennewick, which both say they are completely out of the vaccine and don't plan to get any more for the season.  We're also told Safeway has only 100 shots left (as of Wednesday morning).

The Benton Franklin Health District is also out, for the time being.  Not only did more people want the shot this season, but the District got fewer than they ordered.  Dr. Larry Jecha, with the Benton Franklin Health District, says, "We only got half of what we ordered.  So, during our flu week we ran out of that.  We're expecting another shipment, but it could be as late as November is what we're being told."

Dr. Jecha says it's okay to wait to get your flu shot because the peak of the flu season isn't until January.
