PASCO, Wash. - Washington State Trooper Jim Saunders was remembered tonight in Pasco. Trooper Saunders was killed ten years ago today during a routine traffic stop at 28th Avenue and Lewis.
Tonight a mememorial ceremony was held by local law enforcement, family and friends to pay tribute to Trooper Saunders. Long time friend, Trooper Jaeger, says Saunders was a fun loving guy who always had a smile on his face. "Just a very friendly guy, he loved everything he did. He really enjoyed the patrol, he enjoyed his family life, he enjoyed his friends. I don't know of a better person," said Trooper Jaeger.
Trooper Saunders was only 31 years old and had been with the Washington State Patrol eight and a half years before he was killed. He is the 26th and most recent Washington State Patrol Officer to die in the line of duty.
Trooper Saunders' survivors include his wife, Billie; daughter, Megan; son, James; sister, Jennifer; and parents, John and Jan Saunders of Wenatchee.
