KENNEWICK, Wash. -- In boys cross country, the Kamiakin Braves continue their run as one of the best in the state. The Braves are ranked 5th right now.
After a 4th place finish at Sunfair last weekend, the Braves are poised for a head to head match-up with last year's national champion, Spokane's North Central this weekend.
The Braves success has given the team confidence.
"It just gives you a sense of achievement to know you can do it,"said Kamiakin Senior Justin Yokes. "Not very many people can do our sport as fast as we do and it just feels good."
"The seniors have been together since their freshman year and they've actually gone through a couple heartbreaking seasons in the process," said Coach Matt Rexus. "I think that they don't want that to happen again so they've really gone out of their way to make that next step and they really want to compete with Spokane."
