2010 Kadlec 4 Kids-a-thon
Hosted by Kadlec Regional Medical Center, New Northwest Broadcasters and KNDU-TV October 28 & 29, 2010.
For the past 2 years, Kadlec and NNB hosted the Kadlec 4 Kids Radiothon in support to open the 25,000-square foot Don & Lori Watts Pediatric Center. This has given the opportunity for the NNB listening audience to learn more about the wide variety of services provided by Kadlec and to pledge support to the new Pediatric Center. Much to everyone's surprise, the Radiothon generated overwhelming interest and support from the NNB listening audience over a non-stop 36 hour broadcast period.
Since last year the Don and Lori Watts Pediatric Center was opened on the 5th floor of Kadlec's River Pavilion. This beautiful unit was funded through community donations totaling nearly $7.5 million dollars. This past summer, the 6th floor Acute Care Unit opened atop the River Pavilion. Both of these projects have been critical in Kadlec being able to meet the incredible demand for services.
Our new goal is to build a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for babies in need of critical care. Currently there are no units in the Northwest. Babies are sent to Seattle or Portland for care. Naturally, as the 2010 event was being planned, we asked ourselves "How can we come close or exceed the success of last year?"
This year KNDU-TV will provide pre-promotional announcements and updates throughout our news casts on Friday. We will have live web streaming on Friday October 29th from 4:00-6:30pm. NNB disc jockeys be live on the air for 36 hours non-stop.
With the communities contribution, Kadlec Medical Center will be able to build a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and babies will be able to receive local treatment instead of having treatment in Spokane, Portland or Seattle.
Thank you for your support!!
