YAKIMA--Hundreds donated, picked up, and packed food to help out the community's less fortunate for Operation Harvest.
Organizers hoped to get 140,000 pounds of food this year. They did that and more.
"It says a lot [about the community]," Chairman Andy Martinkus said. "This is Yakima and when times get tough, the people of this community always seem to come through, and that's what makes this place so special."
Martinkus said the final tally is about 145,000 pounds of food and $25,000 in donations. Yakima's Rotary Club also helped their chapter in Ellensburg hold their first Operation Harvest this year.
All that food and money will be divided among eight food banks in the Yakima Valley.
If your donations didn't get picked up, take them to the Salvation Army.
