WAPATO--On Friday we told you about a Wapato farmer worried he'd lose his apples to freezing night-time temperatures over the weekend.
Well, the weekend's come and gone, and pickers at Marquez Orchards managed to work both Saturday and Sunday, filling up more than 300 bins.
The farm's owner tells KNDO some of his competitors weren't so lucky, which could be huge for his profits.
"My apples or whoever [else was able to] pick apples, the price will be really good," Sergio Marquez, Marquez Orchards, said.
Marquez said this weekend almost guarantees he will receive good prices on his apples next year as well.
He grows Granny Smith and Fuji apples. Marquez hopes to get another couple days of picking in, but that will depend on how cold it gets at night.
