Yakima breast cancer awareness events continue into late October

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. - Several businesses will keep up their efforts to raise money this weekend for breast cancer awareness with proceeds benefiting local funds for the cause.

All month long, select salons have been giving supporters pink hair while accepting donations.  The project is in partnership with ‘Ohana, Memorial's mammography center; North Star Lounge, and the Memorial Foundation.

On Friday, Oct. 16, the Yakima Athletic Club is once again offering its "Step Up for the Cause" BodyStep class.  You do not need to be a member and donations will be accepted at the class.  It begins at 4:15 p.m. at YAC.

Safeway is also taking part this month by letting customers honor many of the people who have battled cancer and those still fighting with luminary lighting.  This event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Nob Hill location.

The money raised from these events will go to both ‘Ohana and Memorial's Breast Cancer Fund.
