NILE VALLEY--The Department of Transportation has opened one lane of the Nile Loop Road to local access.
Right now, a flagger is directing traffic through the four-mile stretch of State Route 410 hit by Sunday's land slide.
It is for local traffic only, so you have to have proof of identification or mail. Crews continue working to open the remaining lane; however there is no timetable to finish that work.
The DoT has a team designing a route that will be usable all winter. The Naches River will eventually wash out Nile Loop Road, making it impassable.
