Freedom Solute honors soldiers

Posted: Updated:

Congressman Doc Hastings was in the Tri-Cities at the Freedom Salute to honor the National Guard's Delta Company who served in Iraq this past year.

The Freedom Solute is a time to welcome home our soldiers from long deployments and to recognize the families who supported them when their loved ones were away. It's also a time to celebrate what they have done for our freedom and for our country.

The Delta Company honored more than 130 soldiers today at Virgie Robinson Elementary in Pasco. They saluted them after a year-long journey abroad.

I spoke with Congressman Hastings at the event, and he says we wished them farewell when they left last August, it's only fitting we welcome them back now.

"The country we have is a wonderful country and the people that are willing to put their lives on the line for our freedoms, you can't say enough about those people," Hastings said.
