Girls High School Soccer HighlightsPosted: Updated:
On saturday girls soccer was in full swing, with a plethora of games taking place in the Tri-City area.
The first game on tap featured Hanford at home against Davis. Scoring in this game came at a premium. Kashiesha Johnson only struck once, but her lighting bolt speed powered Hanford to victory.
The rest of the game was filled with chances, including a Kendall Riddelle corner kick to set up the header. Unforunately for the Falcons, it sailed up and over the net.
Davis had its chances with midfielder Mackenna Morton controlling the ball. All day she created space and shooting lanes for key opportunities that nearly put the Pirates on the board.
In the end the Falcons made the Pirates walk the plank. Hanford won 1-0 over Davis.
From one shutout to another in the Pasco Wenatchee match. The Bulldogs held true to their name sake by not bringing out the welcome mat. Pasco pulled out all the stops at home. Already up three to nothing, Kaylie Winston sent a pass across the field, and thanks to a friendly turf bounce Shawna Anderson side kicked it into the net. Anderson's goal put the match out of reach, and Pasco won by a 4-0 over Wenatchee.
Over in Kennewick the girls were fired up from the start. West Valley though extinguished the Kennewick flame with a flood of goals. The first one off the leg of Jaimie Dolquist appeared to open the flood gates, but the officials blew the play dead because a player was offsides.
Kennewick netminder Karla Salcido was tested early with shot after shot, and she stood strong in the early going. Just to much West Valley in the end. Sandy Hanes opened up the scoring, and her teammates took it from there, beating Kennewick 7-0.
