YAKIMA--Washington continues honoring its service men and women. Sunday, soldiers just back from a tour in Iraq received a big thank you.
The 181st support battalion of the 81st Brigade returned from Iraq about two months ago.
Sunday, State Representative Norm Johnson (Republican - 14th District) joined about 100 others in saluting the soldiers.
One guardsman tells KNDO he likes coming home to this attention.
"I really appreciate that," Spc. Mitchell Smith said. "It's good to know that people support us and know what we do is good and tell us that they appreciate it. It really means a lot to us."
Mitchell's from western Washington.
He's got another six years in the national guard.
He plans to go to college and get a degree while he serves.
