Waterford Place in Richland to be Hotel & Offices, Not Condos
RICHLAND, Wash.-- Big changes in the plans for Waterford Place in Richland, after funding falls through.
The lot on George Washington Way was originally going to be condos ranging from $500,000 to $4-million. Now, it's going to be a hotel and office building instead.
There's already an upscale residence club on the property, which will be converted into the lobby of an extended stay hotel by Hilton, called "Homewood Suites."
The Economic Development Manager of Richland, Garry Ballew, says the city still wants to build elegant condos somewhere else in the city, but is excited about what the hotel will bring to the area. He says guests at the extended stay hotel will, "still be looking for places to eat and to shop. So we're thinking it'll be a real boost to downtown, and you always like to see a project move forward."
The hotel will be four stories tall with about 100 rooms. The office building will be five stories, and about 62,000 square feet. No time line has been set for the new project yet.
