Psychiatrists to Study Sisouvahn

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick, WA- A Benton County judge has put a murder trial on hold and sent the defendant to Eastern State Hospital.

Phien Sisouvahn is accused of murdering a pregnant woman in Columbia Park and cutting the woman's unborn fetus from her womb.

Judge Robert Swisher today says he's become concerned with Sisouvahn's increasingly "bizarre behavior" in county jail and her ability to help prepare her defense.

After she's taken to Eastern State Hospital, psychiatrists will observe Sisouvahn for at least two weeks to determine if she's competent to stand trial.
