Woman found naked and dead in Yakima alleywayPosted: Updated:
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A woman was found naked and dead in a Yakima alleyway early Tuesday morning. Neighbors are calling it a brutal murder.
A transient found a woman's body naked in the middle of the alley. Police showed up shortly after, as neighbors watched the gruesome scene.
"They had to use the fire truck to hose the blood off, that's how bad it was and we're talking about a murder that was done somewhere else and brought here and dumped off and she was still bleeding profusely," said Bruce Simmon, neighbor.
"We're pretty sure that she was left there, yes and that the homicide happened somewhere else," said Sgt. Scot Levno, Yakima Police Department.
Detectives identified her as Shelly Kinter, a 42-year-old Yakima woman. The coroner said he won't know the cause of death until after an autopsy is completed. He called the many injuries "traumatic" and said Kinter may have been run over by a car.
"We're working like I said on a few leads we have and we hope to develop at least maybe a vehicle description or something," said Levno, Monday morning.
By mid afternoon detectives found a black Dodge Avenger with blood and other evidence inside. They've booked 20-year-old Aaron Leroy Briden of Tacoma, on charges of first degree murder.
Neighbors in the area believe Kinter was living at Triumph Treatment Center. It's a few blocks from where her body was found. Police haven't said the relationship, if any, between Kinter and the man arrested.
