Kids donate their Halloween candy to US military overseas

YAKIMA--Dozens of youngsters had a tough choice to make Sunday: cash or candy?

Yakima Pediatrics Dentistry offered kids a dollar for each pound of candy they donated.

Along with saving their teeth, the candy will be sent to soldiers overseas.

Those troops will have a lot to eat.  West Valley ROTC donated 500 pounds of sweets alone!

"We were prepared for it just in case, but I was happy thinking we'd get a couple hundred pounds," dentist Ashley Tercero said.  "We've already far surpassed the goal."

At the end of the day, they collected nearly a thousand pounds of goodies.

Yakima Pediatrics will send over toothbrushes too, to make sure our troops are also protected from cavities.
