Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick police department says Officer Lee Cooper will return to duty November 4th. Cooper is the officer involved with a controversial shooting that killed Christopher Villarreal back in September.

According to the KPD, Cooper will be on special assignment, assigned to the Administrative Services Division. He will be working to complete the Kennewick Police Department re-accreditation process.

The Kennewick Police Department is an accredited police department through the Washington Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Association. Re-accreditation is required on a regular basis to maintain the accreditation certification.
