Octoberfest Food Drive Raises Nearly 10,000 Pounds of Food

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND - You may remember a story about the start of the 8th annual Octoberfest Food Drive.

For an entire month Yokes Grocery Stores and dealers in the Pasco Autoplex raised money to buy food for local food banks.

The Autoplex donated $100 for every car sold and Yokes had pre-made donation bags for customers to buy and then donate. $11,600 worth of food was distributed today and Yokes store manager Darrell Toombs says he was happy he could help.

"It feels really good all of the food banks, the people I've talked to say the need is even greater than in years past. So it feels really good to be able to help out and provide something that's needed in every community."

The nearly 10,000 pounds of food will be distributed between six area food banks.
