The American Boat Racing Association will take a 10-boat fleet to Doha, Qatar for the Oryx Cup UIM World Championship (November 19-21). Not only will it be the 2009 season finale, it will be the first time the ABRA will host a race outside the North America continent. Jeff Bernard, U-5 FormulaBoats.com

Going into the final race, there are just 216 points separating U-1 Oh Boy! Oberto's Steve David and U-5 Formula Boats's Jeff Bernard going into the final race in Doha, Qatar for the UIM Oryx World Championship.  The final race of the 2009 unlimited hydroplane season will determine Team Championship, Driver Championship and World Championship.

“This is definitely a tight race.   It’s going to be a real challenge for all three boats,” said Steve David on the ABRA's conference call along with drivers Jeff Bernard and U-16 Ellstrom's Dave Villwock.

David said he hopes to draw Bernard in some heats to take points away from them before the finals.

"I'd rather he (David) and Dave (Villwock) get the draw together like in Evansville," said Bernard.

"I want to draw everybody, make as much trouble as we can, race as hard as we can and let the two guys at the top of the points chase battle it out,” said Villwock.  "Race as hard as we can, go as hard as we can.  All offense, no defense.”
