Police say one car in the accident yesterday on I-182 was going 10 to 15 miles under the speed limit.
That's 55 or 60 in a 70 miles-per-hour area, but the car was in the right hand lane which police say is fine, and where a car going under the speed limit should be. But we wanted to know, at what point does driving slowly become a hazard?
"On the inside lane of travel it's illegal to go less than the maximum posted speed limit," Captain Mike Cobb from the Richland Police Department said.
Police and Washington State Troopers say if a car is in the left lane driving 10 or 15 miles under the limit, they can pull them over. Captain cobb says people may not be aware of that law; therefore, it's important to get information out there.
"People need to monitor their speed, which means slowing down as well as sometimes keeping the speed up," Cobb said. "If someone's in the right hand lane, then doing 10 or 15 miles below the posted speed is completely fine."
