Attorney back from Afghanistan, back in court

Posted: Updated:

Pasco, WA- A public defender is back in the courtroom after serving in Afghanistan.

Kevin Holt returned to the Franklin County Courthouse today. Holt, an army reservist, has spent most of the year in active duty.

Holt represents defendants in two high profile cases. Tuesday, a judge appointed him to the defense team of Ramon Garcia Morales, who along with his brother are charged with murdering a man in Pasco.

Holt also represents Vicente Ruiz, accused in the execution-style murders of five men 20-years ago.

Prosecutors are worried about delays in the cases if Holt is called back to active duty before or during the trials.
