City of Richland budgets funds to buy land for new city hall
RICHLAND, Wash.-- The city wants a new city hall just across the street.
The plan to build a new city hall is just in its infancy, but their proposed budget for next year includes a half million dollars towards the purchase of a parking lot across the street owned by the federal government.
All they plan to do in the coming year is finalize the purchase of the land, but it can't come soon enough as their current city hall is aging, and renovating it would be just as costly as building a new one.
The new city hall is a long ways away from being complete; that's estimated around 2014. But it is part of an effort by the city to better develop the swift corridor and have more commercial and public buildings.
