YAKIMA--We've heard some interesting rumors about the H1N1 virus and the seasonal flu, but don't believe everything you hear.
The Yakima County Health Department tells us they hear several myths on getting vaccinated. For example, you can get both the H1N1 and seasonal flu vaccines at the same time. Also, it doesn't matter which vaccine you get first.
"Even if people have not received their seasonal flu shot, if they fall into the target groups that we are looking at right now for H1N1, they can get their H1N1 shot," Jessica Brown, Yakima Health Department, said.
Another myth making the rounds is a claim that the two strains of flu have combined into a third different rain.
Brown said that's not the case, but adds doctors may combine them next year, so one vaccine would immunize you to both strains.
