New information on renters living in mini-storage units

KENNEWICK, Wash--  Earlier this summer, investigators found people living in storage units at Classic Mini Storage in Kennewick.  That is against the law.

The owner, Mitch Brownsworth, says he didn't know anyone was living there. He even went so far as to make them sign a contract, which tells tenants not to violate any city ordinances.

Prior to the city's investigation, Brownsworth could have been in serious trouble.  But a few months later, investigators say he's not facing any consequences, and the problem seems to have gone away.

"He worked with us in order to get the people out and as far as I know, there's no one living there at this time," says Kennewick fire captain John Terpening.  "We're waiting, though, if we do get any calls in the future, we'll go out and address those at that time."
