Volunteers made packages to send to troops over holidays

Posted: Updated:

The Pasco Red Lion staff and the Tri-City Young Marines joined with the U.S. Troop Care Package Company today to put together stockings for troops overseas.

About 300 volunteers came out to fill those stockings with candy and Christmas cards.   Volunteers say they hope to send about one-thousand stockings to those who aren't able to be with family or friends over the holidays.

"It teaches us how to recognize our brothers and sisters overseas cause all together we're taught to be as a family," Young Marine Jared Haeg said. "What we're doing here is helping out those brothers and sisters."

The U.S. Troop Care Package Company encourages those who haven't already done so, to send them the names of family members who are oversees so they can also receive care packages over the holidays.
