PASCO, Wash;- A chase followed by an ambulance. Pasco police are still investigating an unusual scuffle that happened outside the U.S. West Bank in Pasco.
With an increase in robberies in Pasco recently and other disturbances this past week, police say they thought this was more of the same when they received a call this afternoon from a witness explaining he'd observed three young men beating up another juvenile behind the bank.
When police arrived the three men quickly ran away from the scene. Officers then tracked them down and put them in handcuffs, only to find it was a much different situation than they realized.
"We thought we had three juveniles beating up another juvenile, but what it turned out to be was the juvenile that was on the ground was low on insulin. He went into diabetic shock," Pasco Officer Jeremy Jones said.
The young man was going into diabetic shock and the three juveniles turned out to be friends trying to help. Police say they believe they ran away because they were scared, but officers did take them in custody for resisting arrest.
The young man who went into shock was conscious when he was taken by ambulance from the scene.
