Home invasion also a sexual assault

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash;-Police are now saying a home-invasion over the weekend was also a sexual assault case.

A sketch was released today of the suspect who broke into a Richland woman's apartment over the weekend. Police say the woman living in the apartment was sexually assaulted and had serious injuries; furthermore, a solid metal object was used to hit her over the head. Other injuries include broken bones in her arms along with one broken hand.
The sketch released today by Richland police shows a 30 or 35-years-old white male who weighs between 165 and 185 pounds.

Officers tell us the woman doesn't know who he is or why he broke into her apartment.

"This type of crime is not a common thing around here," Sergeant Jeff Taylor said. "It's not something we deal with on a regular basis. Hopefully we'll figure out who did it and put an end to it."

The woman is now in stable condition and expected to recover. If you have any information about this man please call police right away.
